About this event
Books are paradoxical bodies: fragile objects in which ideas are preserved for centuries. Our own body is also fragile, subject to time, illness, and the limitations of memory. Throughout the ages, societies have made a remarkable choice: to protect the vulnerable. From this perspective, reading is also a form of care, a way to keep memories alive and connect people. In this lecture, Irene Vallejo explores how books and care have been intertwined throughout history, to show why this attention to vulnerability makes societies stronger and why it is more urgent than ever.
