JOHNNY DELAWARE — ON GOD'S TIME

About this event

Johnny Delaware grew up in South Dakota and spent his twenties in Nashville, Albuquerque and Austin before eventually settling in Charleston. There, he recorded his debut album Secret Wave in 2013. Not long after, he co-founded SUSTO, the acclaimed indie-roots band that went on to tour with artists including The Lumineers, Band of Horses and The Head and the Heart. At the same time, Delaware continued to make music as a solo artist. In 2022 he released Energy of Light , followed by Para Llevar in 2024. On his latest album On God’s Time , he builds on that solo work with a sound that blends Americana, folk, country and psychedelia. His songs are warm, cinematic and melancholic, exploring love, loss, regret and the choices we make in life. Johnny Delaware previously performed with us as the support act for Dylan LeBlanc. On Saturday 8 May 2027, he returns to Groningen in his own right for TakeRoot Presents at the A-Theater.
