About this event

Exactly fifty years after the legendary farewell concert by The Band, Rotterdam-based Dawn Brothers bring The Last Waltz to Dutch theatres. With only thirteen performances scheduled in November and December 2026, this is not a tour you can catch “some other time,” but a rare opportunity to be there. The show at Stadsschouwburg Groningen is part of this exceptionally limited run. On November 25, 1976, The Band bid farewell at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. The concert was immortalised in Martin Scorsese’s iconic film and went on to become a cultural landmark. With their distinctive blend of rock, folk, country, and blues, The Band left an indelible mark on music history and laid the foundations for what we now call Americana. The Dawn Brothers have deeply rooted their sound in the folk-rock and Americana tradition. With rich harmonies and a raw, high-energy live approach, they are without doubt the ideal band to carry this tribute. It’s no coincidence that they have long been fixtures on leading stages, from North Sea Jazz to Americanafest in Nashville. & Friends: an evening of musical heavyweights For this special Groningen edition, the Dawn Brothers will be joined by a selection of remarkable guest artists. Together, they represent a cross-section of the finest names in today’s Dutch roots and Americana scene, complemented by leading international musicians who have made the Netherlands their home. Taking the stage in Groningen are, among others, soul powerhouse Michelle David, singer-songwriter Tim Knol, the charismatic voice of Cato van Dijck (My Baby), word artist and performer Nico Dijkshoorn, blues virtuoso Ian Siegal, drummer and vocalist Darryl Ciggaar, guitarist and singer Dusty Ciggaar, and yéyé-pop icon Fleur Elman. 50 Years The Last Waltz at Stadsschouwburg Groningen is a one-night-only live experience, celebrating a legendary concert with the energy and urgency of today. An evening not to be missed.
