Love has always been a driving force behind music. Every composer has been inspired by it. A Valentine’s Day without music is therefore unthinkable. There are millions of pieces about silent longing, sensual love, disappointment or, on the contrary, blazing passion. Jeannette van Schaik sings some of the most beautiful ones, with special attention to love scenes from Italian opera. And, of course, the irresistible, dreamy Morgenstimmung from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite.
