Sometimes soft music says more than a wall of sound. Black Sea Dahu makes songs that start small and slowly work their way under your skin. The Swiss band, led by singer and songwriter Janine Cathrein, has built a distinct sound where indie folk, chamber pop and art rock come together. With their new album Everything , they come to Groningen for a show at De Oosterpoort. On Everything , the band delves deeper into themes of loss, hope and holding on. The songs grew out of personal grief and a world on edge, yet they sound clear and resolute. Live, Black Sea Dahu carefully build their songs, leaving space for silence and release. These are not songs made to impress, but to feel a sense of connection.
