About this event
With SYML, American singer- songwriter Brian Fennell brings indie pop back to its essence. Under a name that means simple in Welsh, he weaves minimalist synths and piano into deeply moving compositions. The wider public embraced him after his global breakthrough with the megahit Where’s My Love , yet Fennell has continued to challenge himself artistically. In 2023 he released his second album, The Day My Father Died . The record features collaborations with Charlotte Lawrence, Guy Garvey ( Elbow) and Nickel Creek. He also collaborated with Lana Del Rey on the song Paris, Texas , which was later beautifully covered by S10. SYML is known for working across genres, so the collaboration with the Metropole Orkest is a natural fit that adds new depth and richness to his music. The program will feature a mix of his biggest hits and new material from his latest album Nobody Lives Here , his clearest and most incisive work to date. With more than four billion streams, the multi- platinum artist looks directly at grief, loss, mortality and the passage of time, steadfast and harmonious.
