About this event
In ‘African Symphony’, the rich African musical tradition meets the symphonic sound of the Metropole Orkest. Singer Angélique Kidjo, a five-time Grammy winner, collaborates with award-winning American bassist, composer, and arranger Derrick Hodge for this project. Together, they have created a setting where African energy, rhythms, and stories, along with the powerful voice of the Beninese-French singer, are fully expressed. The program honors the great voices of the continent, featuring music by artists such as Miriam Makeba, Fela Kuti, and Youssou N’Dour, alongside contemporary artists like Rema and Burna Boy. Kidjo’s own work is also part of the concert, music that has been a major source of inspiration for a new generation of African artists.
